  1. It saved my life, honestly. After the illusions dissipated, it fell to me to save myself.

  2. At the very least, it removed cognitive dissonance, which doesn’t feel good. But most of all, I feel happy that we are NOT created and under the mercy of a egomaniac, oppressive, misogynistic, insecure, violent son of a bitch. The only down side is that to become an atheist, you must accept that face that there is no afterlife, which may be scary at first. Then you realize that it is no biggie. One life is all we need if we spend it well. This is the only life we have. Why waste it going to church, praying, believing in inconsistent bullshit, that makes no sense, preaching, and praising something that doesn’t exist? Yes, atheism changed my life for the better- forever.
